City Win Mickey Mouse Trophy to Start Season

First thing's first. The Community Shield isn't a proper trophy. Abroad it is. Here it isn't treated the same way. It's a trophy you'd love to win to start the season and make a statement. But it's not a 'proper' trophy. That being said, the 2 top teams in England played out a really good game yesterday, showcasing why they are the best and why they're the teams to catch. City were the better team in the first half. Liverpool were significantly the better team in the second half and would probably have won had Salah had a better day. What a selfish player he is though. He rarely ever looks to pass. Must be frustrating to play with despite the bucket loads of goals he scores against the small teams. Rodri looked pretty good. Liverpool will be pleased that they showed some form after the other friendly games. But they must be having nightmares about City goal line clearances. That was incredible from Kyle Walker. But with Otamendi and Stones at the back, City do look shaky. Obviously Laporte will be back but the fact he hasn't got a really good partner next to him may give other sides some hope. Liverpool could do with another attacking option for some strength in depth up front. Speaking of signings, the Merseyside club have just signed Adrian to replace Mignolet. A decent signing actually. Adrian is an okay keeper and will be good foil for Allison.

United have FINALLY announced Maguire. That's all. I've spoken about it enough.

Arsenal took on Barcelona yesterday at the Nou Camp and put in an absolutely typical Arsenal performance. Good offensively - Aubameyang and Ozil were very good - but abysmal defensively. That was summed up by Maitland-Niles' sensational own goal. It will be another similar season for the Gunners if they don't strengthen their defence. Pepe and Ceballos is all well and good but they can't defend. Special mention to Joe Willock though who looks like an absolute star. So confident on the ball. Looks a special talent. Hopefully we get to see him a lot this season.

From tomorrow until Thursday will be mainly transfer talk here. Should be posting daily now. Will there be any surprises in store? Let's wait and see.
