After spending £0 in the last two transfer windows, I don't think many expected Tottenham to do this. Last night it was confirmed that Spurs were on the verge of the £65 million deal of French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. The midfield general that they have been crying out for, Spurs are making a giant statement of intent and spending big money on a position they desperately need. Apparently Pochettino has already met the player and he had a tour of the Spurs' facilities. This is a big window for Spurs, and if they can sign quality players in the positions they need - creative midfielder, right-back and forward to offer support to Kane and Son - then why can't they compete for the Premier League. Things are looking very positive for the club.
Apart from that massive news, it was a pretty quiet day. But there was the odd piece of transfer news that was somewhat interesting.
According to a number of reports, Lucas Torreira wants out of Arsenal, and AC Milan will push ahead with a move. Torreira was impressive in an Arsenal shirt for the first six months, however, his form dropped of dramatically for the rest of the season. Whether it was because he was unhappy in England or he just was still adapting to the Premier League, I'm not sure, but losing him wouldn't be a good thing. He's a very talented player and could be a superb midfielder for years to come. He's not the end product right now, but he will be a very good player.
United and City remain in talks for Harry Maguire and both clubs have told Leicester that they are willing to pay £65 million. Incredibly, Leicester still want more and a deal still isn't close for either clubs. I think this deal will actually eventually happen and I think City will be the team who pays his massive sum, but I think it'll be dragged out and it'll take a while.
That's all for today, I'll be back tomorrow again.
